Carbon filter and sponge filter

The set filters in two stages. The sponge filter catches hair, debris and large particles first. The curved carbon filter then works on finer impurities, and the manufacturer states that it removes residual heavy metals.

Filter materials

The manufacturer lists three materials in each carbon filter:

• Pure coconut shell activated carbon
• Ion exchange resin
• Non-woven fabric as the outer layers

Replace every 2 to 4 weeks

Change the filters every 2 to 4 weeks, or sooner if the water looks cloudy or the flow slows. Soak and wash every new filter before use.

Rinse the filter before use

Soak the new carbon filter in clean water for 2 to 3 minutes, and rinse the sponge filter under running water. This washes off loose carbon dust before the filters go into the fountain.

How to change the filters

1. Unplug the fountain and lift off the top.
2. Take out the used carbon and sponge filters.
3. Soak the new carbon filter and rinse the sponge as above.
4. Fit the sponge filter in its slot, usually around the pump inlet, then insert the carbon filter into its curved compartment.
5. Put the top back, refill if needed and plug in.
